Booking tip Book your Taiwan–Delhi connection with a comfortable buffer so a delayed first leg doesn't strand you

Visa and Entry Requirements for Taiwanese Travellers

Taiwanese passport holders aren't offered an India visa-on-arrival, so this needs sorting before you fly — the good news is that Taiwan is on the list of eligible nationalities for India's e-Tourist Visa, applied for entirely online. You'll typically be offered a 30-day option (double entry), a 1-year option (multiple entry) or a 5-year option. Because India and Taiwan don't maintain formal diplomatic missions in each other's territory, there's no walk-in Indian consulate — which makes the online e-Visa route the only realistic channel for Taiwanese applicants. We recommend applying at least a week or two before departure.

Currency, Connectivity and Money Matters

Matter Detail
Currency Exchange NT$ aren't spendable in Kashmir. Change into Indian Rupees (INR) at Delhi/Srinagar airport or licensed money changers.
Exchange Rate As of September 2026, 1 NT$ converts to roughly ₹3.0, though this shifts week to week.
SIM Cards/Data Taiwanese SIMs won't roam usefully inside J&K. Pickup an Indian postpaid SIM on arrival or setup an international eSIM with Indian data before departure.
Connectivity Note Prepaid SIMs bought outside the state are restricted in J&K; postpaid or local prepaid is required.

Best Places to Visit on a Kashmir Trip from Taiwan

  • Srinagar and Dal Lake: This is Day 1/2 and Day 6 of our standard itinerary — arrival and your Dal Lake houseboat night both come included as standard. Kashmir's summer capital sits at about 1,585 m and centres on Dal Lake, where a houseboat night and a sunset Shikara ride tend to be the two things travellers remember most. Round it out with the Mughal Gardens — Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh — and the old city's Jama Masjid. Best visited April to October.
  • Gulmarg: About 56 km from Srinagar at 2,650 m, Gulmarg — "Meadow of Flowers" — is home to one of the world's highest cable car systems, climbing to Apharwat Peak at close to 3,980 m, not far off the height of Taiwan's own Yushan. This is Day 3 of our standard itinerary — the Gondola Phase 1 ride is included in every package tier. Winter (December–February) turns it into India's premier ski destination — a genuine novelty for most Taiwan-based travellers, since Taiwan has no dedicated ski resorts of its own — while summer brings one of the highest green golf courses anywhere. Pack proper warm layers regardless of season; the weather turns fast at this altitude.
  • Pahalgam: Sitting on the Lidder River about 96 km from Srinagar at 2,130 m, Pahalgam — "Valley of Shepherds" — has long served as the base camp for the Amarnath Yatra. It opens onto Betaab Valley, Aru Valley and Chandanwari, and its pony trails and pine-forest walks make it one of the more relaxed stops on a Kashmir circuit. Best April to June and September to November. This is Day 4 and Day 5 of our standard itinerary, included in every package tier.
  • Sonmarg: This is Day 7 of our standard itinerary. Around 80 km from Srinagar at roughly 2,700–2,800 m, Sonmarg — the "Meadow of Gold" — marks the start of the road toward Ladakh over Zoji La. Its main draw, Thajiwas Glacier, is a short pony ride or walk from the main road. The route generally stays open only from May to September before heavy snow closes it, which is why most well-built Kashmir packages schedule it as a single day trip.
  • Betaab Valley: Around 15 km from Pahalgam, Betaab Valley takes its name from a Bollywood film shot there. Covered as part of the Day 4 drive in our standard itinerary — no separate booking needed. Thick pine cover and the Lidder River running through it make for an easy, photogenic stop with a modest entry fee, usually paired with Aru Valley and Chandanwari in one day.
  • Yusmarg: About 47 km from Srinagar in the Pir Panjal range, Yusmarg sits at roughly 2,400 m and draws a fraction of Gulmarg's or Pahalgam's crowds. Rolling meadows, the Doodh Ganga River and pony trails toward Tosa Maidan make it a good half- or full-day add-on for travellers after a quieter pace. Not on our standard route, but easy to add to any package — just ask when you enquire.
  • Doodhpathri: Available as an offbeat add-on, especially popular with our 7N/8D and luxury-tier travellers. In Budgam district, roughly 42 km from Srinagar, Doodhpathri ("Valley of Milk") sits around 2,730 m and takes its name from the milky-white streams flowing over its rocks. Since a Taiwan-to-Kashmir trip already involves a long journey either way, many of our travellers prefer to stretch the trip to 8–10 days rather than a quick dash, which leaves comfortable room to build Doodhpathri in as a bonus day.
  • Aru Valley: Twelve kilometres from Pahalgam at about 2,414 m, Aru Valley is the starting point for treks to the Kolahoi Glacier and the Tarsar-Marsar lakes, and its meadows also suit shorter horse rides and day hikes. Add it as an extra day to any package of 6N/7D or longer — tell us when you enquire.

Things to Do on a Kashmir Tour from Taiwan

  • Shikara Ride and a Houseboat Stay: An evening Shikara ride on Dal Lake is close to essential on any Kashmir trip, drifting past floating gardens and the lake's floating market for roughly ₹600–₹1,200 depending on duration and season. Combine it with at least one night on a Dal or Nigeen Lake houseboat — options range from simple to deluxe, usually with home-cooked Kashmiri meals included. Head out between 6 and 8 AM if you want to catch the floating market at its busiest. The houseboat night and a Shikara ride are both standard inclusions in every package we offer.
  • Ride the Gulmarg Gondola: Phase 1 is already built into every package tier; Phase 2 can be added on request. One of the highest cable car systems on earth, it runs from Gulmarg (2,650 m) to Kongdoori on Phase 1 and continues to Apharwat Peak (Phase 2, near 3,980 m) beyond that. As of 2026, Phase 1 tickets run roughly ₹740–₹810 and Phase 2 roughly ₹900–₹1,100 per person, both subject to seasonal pricing and possible weather closures. On a clear day, the top station opens up views toward the Nanga Parbat range — a different scale of high-altitude scenery from anything Taiwan's own Central Mountain Range offers.
  • Trek Pahalgam, Aru Valley and Betaab Valley: Pahalgam is the trekking hub of the region, with short, clearly marked trails to Aru Valley (12 km) and Betaab Valley (15 km) — both doable in a single day with a guide or pony. Guided sightseeing to these valleys is included in every package; multi-day treks can be arranged as an add-on. More seasoned trekkers can push on from Aru toward the Tarsar-Marsar lakes and the base of Kolahoi Glacier, best attempted June through September.
  • River Rafting on the Lidder: The Lidder River at Pahalgam offers grade I–II rapids — gentle enough for beginners and families. Sessions run about 20–30 minutes and cost roughly ₹500–₹800 per person, best done April through September when water levels are more consistent. Available as an optional add-on with any of our Pahalgam-inclusive packages.
  • Ski or Snowboard in Gulmarg: Ask us to add ski or snowboard rental into your winter package — it isn't included by default. From December to February, Gulmarg becomes one of the country's top winter-sports spots. With no dedicated ski resort of its own, Taiwan doesn't offer much of a home-country comparison, which is exactly why many of our winter travellers say this is their first time skiing at all. Equipment rental and instructor fees generally cost ₹1,500–₹3,000 a day.
  • Shop for Pashmina and Saffron: Srinagar's Lal Chowk and the Polo View Market area are the go-to spots for genuine Pashmina shawls, hand-knotted carpets, walnut wood carvings and Kashmiri saffron — a change of pace from Taipei's own night markets, but with the same emphasis on browsing and bargaining. We can build a stop at trusted, verified stores into your Srinagar city day — just ask. Authentic Pashmina is hand-spun, soft, and lacks the obvious sheen of machine-made copies. Saffron from Pampore, about 16 km from Srinagar, ranks among the best in the world and travels easily in hand luggage back to Taiwan — just check current Taiwan customs allowances for agricultural and food items before you fly home.
  • Walk the Mughal Gardens: Srinagar's terraced, fountain-lined Mughal-era gardens — Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh and Chashme Shahi — date back to the 17th century along Dal Lake's edge. They're at their best in spring (April–May) during tulip season and again in autumn when the chinar trees turn red and gold. Included in the Day 2 Srinagar sightseeing of our standard itinerary.
  • Camp Under the Stars in Sonmarg or Doodhpathri: Available as an add-on for travellers extending beyond our standard 7N/8D package. For a slower day, camping near Sonmarg's Thajiwas Glacier or out in Doodhpathri's meadows offers clear night skies and a break from the main sightseeing route. Basic tented setups run May through September, often with bonfire evenings.

Kashmir Tour Plan for Travellers from Taiwan

Day 1 — Taiwan to Delhi, Onward to Srinagar

Fly out of Taoyuan (or connect from Kaohsiung), land in Delhi, and continue to Srinagar the same day. Settle in and end the day with a relaxed sunset Shikara ride on Dal Lake if your arrival time allows.

Day 2 — Srinagar City and the Mughal Gardens

A full day exploring the city: Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh in the morning, then the old city and Hazratbal Shrine in the afternoon. Take this first day at an easy pace to acclimatize to the 1,585m altitude.

Day 3 — Up to Gulmarg for the Gondola

Drive about 56 km to Gulmarg (2,650 m). Gulmarg sits well above Taiwan's highest paved roads, so pace yourself and watch for altitude effects, especially if you go up to Phase 2 at nearly 4,000 m.

Day 4 — On to Pahalgam via Betaab and Aru Valley

Drive south (90–100 km) along the Lidder River, with stops built in at Betaab Valley and Aru Valley — two of the most photogenic valleys in the region.

Day 5 — Exploring Pahalgam

A pony ride up to Baisaran Valley ("Mini Switzerland") anchors the day. If you're acclimatising well, add an excursion to Chandanwari, which sits above 3,200 m — similar to Taiwan's Hehuanshan.

Day 6 — Back to Srinagar for a Houseboat Night

Return for a night aboard a Dal Lake houseboat. Watching the lake settle over a cup of Kahwa on deck is the standout quiet moment of most people's trip.

Day 7 — Sonmarg

Drive to Sonmarg to see Thajiwas Glacier and Zero Point (open May-Sept), then return to Srinagar for the night, ready for the flight home the next day.

Day 8 — Srinagar to Delhi, Onward to Taiwan

Fly out of Srinagar for your Delhi connection — factor in the terminal transfer at Delhi before your long-haul flight back to Taoyuan.

Kashmir Tour Package from Taiwan — FAQs

Is there a direct flight from Taiwan to Kashmir? +

No — there is no non-stop flight between any Taiwanese city and Srinagar. We build all our Taiwan packages around a New Delhi connection, since it's the Indian hub best linked to Taiwan.

How long does the journey take door to door? +

Roughly 18–22 hours total via today's one-stop connections. From December 2026, EVA Air's non-stop service is expected to cut this to roughly 13–15 hours. The time-zone shift is only 2.5 hours, so jet lag isn't a major factor.

Do I need a visa? +

Yes. Taiwanese citizens need an India e-Tourist Visa arranged online before departure — there's no visa-on-arrival option for Taiwanese passport holders. apply at least one to two weeks ahead of travel.

Will my Taiwanese SIM work in Kashmir? +

No — Taiwanese mobile numbers don't roam usefully inside J&K. Most travellers buy a local postpaid SIM on arrival or set up an international eSIM with Indian data in advance.

What currency should I carry? +

Indian Rupees. New Taiwan Dollars aren't something you can spend or easily exchange inside Kashmir itself, so change money in Taiwan, at Delhi airport, or through a money changer on landing.

How many days should I plan for? +

Given the journey length, we generally steer travellers toward 7N/8D or longer rather than a very short trip, so the travel days on either end don't eat too much of your holiday.

What does a package typically cost? +

Roughly NT$19,500–24,000 per person for 5N/6D, and NT$28,000–42,000 for a fuller 7N/8D — land arrangements only, with flights quoted separately.

Can I add a Delhi stopover? +

Yes — since your itinerary already routes through Delhi both ways, many travellers build in a day or two to see the Red Fort or Humayun's Tomb before the Kashmir leg.

Do you have honeymoon or luxury packages? +

Yes — standard packages for international travellers, and a premium tier with private houseboat nights and upgraded stays. Ask us for both quotes side by side.

How much advance payment is required to confirm a booking? +

A 30% advance payment confirms your booking. Balance can be paid before or on arrival in Srinagar.

What payment methods do you accept? +

We accept international wire transfers, bank transfers, and major cards for the land package payment. Flight tickets are generally booked by the traveller directly.

Is GST included in the quoted package price? +

No — GST (approx. 5%) is added on top of the land package cost. We will confirm the final amount clearly in your itemised quote.

The 7-day trip to Kashmir and Delhi (Agra) was truly an unforgettable experience. I had the opportunity to witness the breathtaking beauty of Srinagar's Dal Lake, Gulmarg, Sonmarg, and Pahalgam—views so stunning that even my eyes felt insufficient to capture them. Kashmir has undoubtedly become one of my most favorite destinations.
